To prepare for your first lesson with a new tutor it is helpful if you:
- Know Your Goals
What are you hoping to get out of your lessons? Knowing the answer to this question will help you get the most from your tutoring experience from day one. Let your tutor know about your short- and long-term goals to ensure you are both aligned.
- Share Learning Materials in Advance
Once your tutor responds, the best way to ensure your expectations are met during a lesson is to equip them with the information they need to get you started in the right direction. Tutors suggest sharing materials like these:
- Course syllabus or relevant course materials
- Assignment description, rubric, or exam outlines
- Previous work assignments
If your lesson is online, we recommend checking out our online tutoring FAQs in our
FAQ section to learn how each of the features on the
Online Lesson Tool work so that you’re ready to use them during your first lesson.
